In TK, students are either extending their school readiness skills that they learned in preschool, or they are learning school readiness skills for the first time. STEAM toys such as the Legos and Gears that you funded encourage 4 and 5 year olds to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. In addition, students build cognitive skills as they problem solve and think critically as they plan and build structures. \r\n\r\nI was prompted to select alternative resources due to the Magnatiles being unavailable at the time of ordering. The replacement items included Magnetic Balls and Rods, Magnetic blocks, magnet wands and Playdoh. The children enjoy using the magnet wands to lift up the magnetic structures that they create with the balls, rods and blocks. The kids say it's \"magic\" when the smaller creations stick to the wands. The wands are a wonderful way to pick up the balls when they roll away from them! The playdoh also offers children opportunities to create 2D and 3D structures in a sensory format. \r\n\r\nAs you can see from the photos, we are so happy to build and learn with Steam toys every day.
