The snacks and supplies you provided are used daily to support emotional regulation, focus, and relationship building.\r\n One meaningful moment that stands out happened during a recent SEL lesson on identifying emotions and coping strategies. Students were able to choose a calming snack while working through a feelings chart and practicing grounding techniques. Having their basic needs met helped them stay present, engaged, and open to learning something that can be very challenging for students with emotional needs.\r\n When the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and gratitude! Several students asked, \"Are these really for us?\" and immediately began talking about which snack would help them calm down or feel more comfortable during tough moments. That sense of being cared for made a visible difference in their confidence and willingness to participate! \r\n Thanks to you, our next steps include continuing structured SEL lessons focused on self regulation, peer communication and coping skills. Since receiving the fidget toys, slime, play-dough, kinetic sand, and other sensory toys, our classroom has become a hub of creativity and focused engagement. One memorable project involved using kinetic sand and play-dough to create models of ecosystems we were studying in science. Students sculpted animals, plants, and landscapes, which helped them visualize and better understand the relationships within different habitats. The sensory materials also serve as wonderful tools during independent work time, helping students stay calm and attentive by providing tactile stimulation that supports their concentration.\r\nThe students were absolutely thrilled and curious when they first saw the new materials coming in boxes! Many immediately wanted to try everything, asking thoughtful questions about how the materials could help with their learning and creativity. It was a joy to watch their little faces light up as they explored the slime's stretchy texture or the calming feeling of running their fingers through the kinetic sand. Our hedgehog crystal experiment was a blast to set up, even though only one set fully crystallized. But in true scientist fashion, our students embraced the challenge, eagerly mixing the materials and humorously blaming the weather for the unexpected results.\r\n\r\nSome of our most anticipated projects are still on hold as we wait for warmer weather. We're looking forward to collecting ants for our ant farms and diving into our sea creature habitats soon.
