With this project I was able to finally turn some of my old chalkboards into magnetic whiteboards! With this new whiteboard space, I am able to quickly and easily display student work, academic instructions, or helpful posters with skills we are focusing on. The whiteboards has also made our wall calendar area for morning meeting time. We are able to display our full monthly calendar, count the days of school, and discuss whether the current number of the day is even or odd. We are over the moon EXCITED and beyond grateful to have such a warm and cozy space to do our very best learning. \r\n\r\nOn the day that our new rug arrived, my kids were ecstatic. They knew that some very generous people had donated something special to our classroom but they did not know what it was. When they first saw the rug, they couldn't get to their spots fast enough! \r\n\r\nMy first and third grade students spend at least 30-60 minutes per day engaging in learning while sitting on the rug. It is so nice to have a clean, comfortable, and cozy space for them to learn. My classroom is now the the coolest place in my the whole building! ; -) \r\n\r\nMy ultimate goal during my teaching career is to create a learning environment where kids WANT to learn.
