The new bookshelves replaced old, broken-down shelves that were no longer safe or functional for students. Not only are the new shelves much safer, but they have completely transformed the look and feel of our classroom library. The books are now organized neatly and displayed in a way that makes students excited to browse and read. The shelves have helped create a more welcoming and visually appealing learning environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new bookshelves, they were so excited. Several students immediately commented on how \"nice\" and \"organized\" the library looked, and many were eager to explore books they had never noticed before. Having an organized classroom library has made it easier for students to find books that interest them and return them properly. During independent reading time, students are spending more time engaged with books and taking pride in keeping our library clean and organized.\r\n\r\nThese new shelves will continue to support our classroom reading goals during the remainder of this year and for years to come! Students are currently working on independent reading projects and book discussions, and having easy access to organized books helps encourage stronger reading habits and a love for learning. In addition to teaching life science, I sponsor the afterschool service club that cares for our Outdoor Classroom and Wildlife Habitat (that I started in 2005) and I offer students enrichment with our classroom animals. Thanks to you (tools, wildlife feed, etc.) we are able to care for our unique, hands-on outdoor learning area. And thanks to you we are able to better care for the 3 native snakes (for which I have DNR permits) that enrich our classroom. The bedding and large water dish are perfect for our spacious enclosures. On a special note, my student volunteers and parents joined me recently at an outreach event at Elachee Nature Center, and thanks to your supplies my students were able to lead exhibits for over 500 visitors! It was wonderful to see them in a leadership role. We can support a thriving food web, provide wildlife viewing, maintain trails & educational exhibits, & make it possible for our school system to bring preK-12 students to this unique learning space that was made for students, by students.
