It has been so fun watching them get comfortable, slow down, and truly enjoy reading in a cozy space.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, my students will be using these chairs during independent reading and other literacy activities. I hope the chairs continue to help create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, relaxed, and excited to read. There are so many times throughout the year that we rely on families and our own pocketbooks to fund great activities in our classrooms. Having donors like you gives teachers (like me) such a warm ending to our school year. \r\n\r\nWe used these crafting items to make Mother's Day paper flower bouquets and create high-quality presentations for our end-of-year showcase. My students used them to present on a significant project from the school year. Alan Gratz writes amazing stories for children and shows them exactly what you just did for us: we work better together and can accomplish great things with the help of others. \r\n\r\nAfter our books arrived, we immediately dove into reading them. Teaching students about 9/11 is truly now a historical aspect, but for many of you (and me!) it is apart of our memories. We dug deep into how 9/11 looked on the day of the attacks and how it still affects the changes in our world today. \r\n\r\nOur class sat together on the floor to read the final chapters of Ground Zero where I tearfully choked out some of the paragraphs. The students were shocked at the ending and gasped at what was written on the pages in front of them (I won't spoil the book for you- please take time to read it!!) Now, these books will forever be apart of our class and future grades will get to experience it's magic.
