It will allow me to sit right in the center curve, placing every single student within arm's reach for direct, individualized support.\r\n\r\nWe will use the table for a hands-on math lesson on area and decomposing shapes. In the past, keeping everyone focused during small-group instruction meant constantly standing up, leaning across large tables, or moving around chairs to reach students who needed physical prompting or visual aids. With our new kidney table, we will be able to quietly guide one student's hands with grid blocks on my left while simultaneously using discreet visual cues to keep a student on my right engaged—all without interrupting the flow of the lesson. The close proximity will help my students feel supported rather than singled out, and the proud smiles on their faces when they solve their area problems will be unforgettable.\r\n\r\nNow that we will have a dedicated space built for connection and focus, we are diving into our next big unit, AREA! My students are taking what they've learned about 2D shapes and expanding it to 3D geometry and surface area. My students and I were super excited when we opened the box and took out the new couch. They couldn't wait to sit on it as soon as I placed it in our library book nook area. I had to remind them to wait just a few minutes longer before they could cozy up with a book and read.\r\n We are using our couch when it is choice time and the children are able to select a book or a stuffed character doll or retelling kit to read a story. Children are making those real world connections, developing and nurturing friendships, and fostering the love of literacy/reading!\r\n The next steps is to continue to build a strong literacy foundation-print vs. picture, how to track print when reading, recognizing those sight words in stories, being able to sound out words, asking open ended questions about the story or making real world connections between book and life.
