The kids were very excited to receive the toys and learning aids. \r\nThe most popular item was the Dr Kit. Everyone wanted to play with it so in order to keep them from competing to see who would play with it first, I suggested they pretend it was a clinic with a Dr and a nurse and the other kid's could make an appointment. That went over so well and it was refreshing to see the kids play together without hurt feelings if someone couldn't play in that center.\r\nThe shoes were another item that they liked. Some of the kids already knew how to tie a shoe but most didn't, it was a great way to help them practice, watch them help each other and just give them the space to practice without them feeling pressured to do something they were not good at. \r\nThe new Lego set was also a great choice and while these pieces were much smaller than they are use to playing with they were very enthusiastic about the new set. They liked being able to attempt projects that the couldn't necessarily do with the larger piece Lego set. They were even careful to pick up and return pieces that had fallen on the floor. I appreciate that it kept them engaged and for the duration of center time. Some days they had a hard time letting go when Center time was over. \r\nThe Spanish flash cards have been used in a limited capacity for first semester. My plan is to use the more now that first semester is over and we have a little more Spanish instruction behind us.\r\nOverall I believe these items will continue to be utilized by the students I have in my class this year and future students as well. The kids were excited to see new things at play time and are continuing to grow and in their developmental skills.\r\nOnce again I want to thank all the donors on behalf of my little learners for supporting this project.","fullyFundedDate":1727199610347,"projectUrl":"project/we-learn-through-play/8766303/","projectTitle":"We Learn Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Booker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9743638"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42197","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":318,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":92,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":42197,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jamestown Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jamestown Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/hazelwood-school-district/jamestown-elementary-school/42197"}
