As we are learning about kindness and qualities of being a good citizen through our core values, you have served as a model for my students.\r\n\r\nRight before our Thanksgiving break, my students noticed all the boxes being delivered to our classroom and quickly become curious about what was inside or why we were receiving so many at a time. Upon returning from the break, I told them we would open them together and that they were from individuals who cared deeply about them and their success as readers and writers. As we unboxed the items, we reflected upon all that we have learned so far this semester together and how we could use the new tools to continue growing. \r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting items were the headphones we received with the microphones. The students have been working to increase their fluency so their brains are free to be able to comprehend the texts they read beyond the literal level. With the headphones, students will be able to record themselves reading and listen to reflect on their fluency. In addition, the kids were excited to have more options in size and color of sticky notes to jot down their thinking as we read texts and to practice their short constructed responses.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students feel empowered and equipped to continue their journey as growing readers and writers!","fullyFundedDate":1731741300716,"projectUrl":"project/launching-successful-readers-and-writers/8508418/","projectTitle":"Launching Successful Readers and Writers through Effective and Responsive Interventions","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moreno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9600560_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721934207632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9600560"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_10866","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":574,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":10866,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James H Ross Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James H Ross Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/clear-creek-independent-school-district/james-h-ross-elementary-school/10866"}
