As a long time Physical Education teacher, I was given the task of also teaching music in addition to PE. When the students found this out, they were extremely excited. I'm not a musically inclined person, but am trying my best!\r\nBecause of my PE background I've tried to make it move music movement. With your amazing donation I was able to conduct what I call \"PUSIC\". This is PE and music together. Fitness drumming has become very popular and delivers a great work out with also having the benefits of music. Last week was my first PUSIC lesson and it went great! The principal came into the room and said \"Coach Hallett...you never cease to amaze me\". She was so happy to see the students having music and PE together. They had smiles on their faces and were totally engaged in the activity. I have also decorated the outside of my door which adds to the school's ambience and makes my room more inviting. I have received several comments from the staff too as they are enjoying the new decor.\r\nI'm enjoying the new school so much. After school we ran a free musical theatre program for students in grades 3-5 to come participate in a musical or working on stage. Students were apart of every artistic step and ran a big part of the show. \r\nTheatre was a way to offer a free after school club for students to attend that had music in it. Our school did not have a music teacher of any kind, so for many this was their only music type activity.
