It definitely helped students comprehend various types of simple machines. The Plip Kit is in frequent use in our STEM center. We have a few students who enjoy the challenge of replicating the 3D structures in the accompanying booklet. The animal counters and the dice poppers have been in regular use for both open play during centers and when doing small group work for counting and sorting. The ABC popsicles are open access in our literacy center. Students prefer to work in peers or small groups when handling this resource as they enjoy the social interaction when trying to match the letter to the 'clue' image.\r\n\r\nEach item however small contributes so much to daily engagement and learning. We love the water pumps and look forward to frequent use when warm weather returns. The dumpling dash game is so cute. My students have been so excited to use them, and it has already made a profound impact on their learning. Before, our K-1 autistic support classroom was lacking pretend play materials that are so crucial in building language and social skills for our students. With the new kitchen, our students are now learning new vocabulary, following directions in a fun and engaging way, and learning to functionally play with others. Additionally, we have used the kitchen to practice skills like washing dishes and setting the table, which helps them transfer these skills to real-life situations. Your support has created a rich, engaging space where my students feel safe to explore and connect with their peers. Being that they are clear, our families can easily see if their child is short on personal items such as clothes. Accessible, organized storage has helped so much with new students starting every week. The canvas bags have ensure that student blankets are not on the floor nor getting misplaced. It is also encouraging students to learn the skills of folding and packing their blankets. After some trouble shooting with the paint surfaces on our brick walls, the heavy duty hooks work really well holding up both 'blanket bags' as well as the heavy school bags some students come to school with.\r\n\r\nThank you kindly for helping us start the year off with these high need supplies. I appreciate that I can sit closer to my high needs students, specific those with severe special education needs. I'm more ready and physically available to comfort and deescalate without having to get up and disrupt instructional flow.\r\n\r\nThe clear shelves are great. Easy to clean and discrete. I am slowly working on placement through out the centers. Some are up high for teacher supported use materials such as delicate books and lower for independent access such as clipboards. One of my favorite moments so far was seeing a small group of students sprawled out across the carpet, reading the same book together and helping each other with new words. The carpet has given them a comfortable space to collaborate, focus, and build confidence as readers.\r\nAs we move forward this school year, my students will continue setting personal reading goals and tracking the books they complete in our classroom library.
