This group of kids was blown away to receive new-and-improved equipment, so the looks on their faces was awesome. They were genuinely appreciative and shocked that so many people would help the team. I can still remember a player coming up to me, thanking me and saying how the shoulder pads felt \"amazing\" and made a huge difference in his range of motion and overall confidence.\r\nEven better is that roughly one-third of our team -- most of the starting lineup -- was better protected, and that was the goal. Using old, reconditioned shoulder pads can be detrimental to the health of young people, leading to severe, long-term injuries, and we are fortunate to have updated ones to place on players who were so grateful to receive them.\r\nThank you all so much for your contributions.","fullyFundedDate":1754004526135,"projectUrl":"project/protect-the-players-g-men-shoulder-pad/9338350/","projectTitle":"Protect the Players: G-Men Shoulder Pad Fundraiser, Part 1","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Simon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9523783_orig.jpg?crop=2045,2045,x208,y594&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743348298947","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9523783"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85443","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":331,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":96,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":84.2,"schoolId":85443,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James A Garfield High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James A Garfield High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/james-a-garfield-local-school-district/james-a-garfield-high-school/85443"}
