From the very first day of school, my scholars were excited to help put the tennis balls on the legs of the chairs and desks. They immediately noticed the difference!\r\n\r\nNow, my scholars can move their desks and chairs around the classroom quietly and smoothly, creating a more peaceful learning environment.\r\n\r\nThey also enjoy looking up at the ceiling and seeing clouds and trees instead of bright classroom lights. The light covers add warmth and comfort to our classroom, creating a cozy atmosphere where students can feel relaxed, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited and curious when they first saw the new materials. Many immediately wanted to explore and try them out. Their excitement created opportunities for students to collaborate, ask questions, and learn through hands-on experiences. I am so thankful for all of your support and donations to this project, specifically, because it was done towards the end of the school year. Nonetheless, you all came forward and helped me and my school counseling team in leading this wonderful activity with our some of our students who we saw throughout the school year and were going to be in need of some extra support during the summer. \r\n\r\nThanks to your donations, we were able to host an event with 15 students from our school (grade 6th-8th) and provide them the opportunity to create their own wellness bag. Our students were able to choose to fill up their bags with notebooks, pencils, stress-release toys, coloring books, healthy snacks, art projects, and more. They were also able to personalize their bags to their liking. \r\n\r\nUpon finalizing this event, our school counseling team realized how much this project meant to these students as they appeared more relaxed and thankful while building their bag. All of our 8th graders recognize that they can come into our office, sit on the new comfy bean bag chair and that they have access to a plethora of fidget and calming toys like squishy balls, coloring books, fidget stones, etc. \r\n\r\nI still remember the moment that I received all of the materials and five of our 8th graders helped me organize the office and find a place for each of the items in this project.
