One of the most important ways we use batteries is for our handheld microphones, which are essential for rehearsals and, most importantly, our performances. Having reliable power for these microphones means our students can be heard clearly and confidently when they step on stage.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we no longer have to constantly replace disposable batteries. This is a major financial relief for our program, allowing us to save money and use those funds for other meaningful opportunities for our students. It also means we can walk into performances fully prepared, without the stress of dead batteries or last-minute replacements.\r\n\r\nYour donation not only supports the quality of our performances, but also helps us run a more sustainable and efficient program by reducing waste. Our students are able to focus on what matters most—sharing their music with others—because of your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping power our performances and for investing in our students' success. Your support truly shines every time they take the stage!","fullyFundedDate":1776452478654,"projectUrl":"project/a-smarter-way-to-power-our-choir/10157576/","projectTitle":"A Smarter Way to Power Our Choir","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8373343_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715652174221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8373343"},{"teacherId":8373343,"projectId":9845571,"letterContent":"Thanks to this project, our classroom has been completely transformed in how we rehearse, perform, and care for our equipment. With the addition of new XLR cables, surge protectors, guitar strings, and guitar stands, students are now able to use reliable, high-quality equipment every single day.\r\n\r\nBefore, we often had to work around faulty cables, worn-out strings, or limited setup options, which could interrupt rehearsals and take away from valuable instructional time. Now, everything is organized, safe, and performance-ready. Students can confidently plug in, set up quickly, and focus on making music rather than troubleshooting equipment.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been on student ownership and pride. With proper stands and maintained instruments, students are learning how to take care of our classroom resources like real musicians. They see the value in maintaining their equipment and treating it with respect.\r\n\r\nThis project has also allowed us to elevate the quality of our performances. Reliable sound equipment and properly maintained instruments mean students can truly showcase their hard work and talent without technical issues getting in the way.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for the support that made this possible. Your generosity has created a more professional, efficient, and inspiring learning environment for every student who walks into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1772580443178,"projectUrl":"project/plug-in-play-essential-gear-for-our-s/9845571/","projectTitle":"Plug In & Play: Essential Gear for Our Student Musicians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8373343_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715652174221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8373343"},{"teacherId":8373343,"projectId":9478054,"letterContent":"Thanks to these new file boxes, our choir room is in the middle of a major transformation! My students and I are using them to sort and organize years' worth of single-copy music, old programs, and conference materials that were previously taking over valuable cabinet space. What used to be overwhelming piles (seriously—mountains of music!) are now becoming a structured, accessible library. One of my favorite classroom moments so far was turning this into a team effort: students helped sort music by genre, voicing, and performance year, and they loved discovering pieces that previous choirs had performed. It became both an organizational project and a mini history lesson of our program!\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were honestly excited—not just because of the boxes themselves, but because they could immediately see the purpose. There was a lot of \"Wait, we're finally organizing all of this?!\" energy. They jumped right in, eager to help tackle what we all jokingly agreed is a very long-term project. The sense of ownership they've taken in improving our classroom space has been incredible.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, this organization system is going to have a lasting impact on our daily rehearsals and future performances. With cabinets now reserved for active class sets, students can quickly access the music they need, maximizing rehearsal time. Meanwhile, our newly organized library will allow us to revisit past repertoire, explore new programming ideas, and even let students help select music for future concerts. This project is setting us up not just for a cleaner space, but for more efficient, student-driven learning for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1760693742826,"projectUrl":"project/file-this-under-student-success/9478054/","projectTitle":"File This Under: Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8373343_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715652174221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8373343"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6453","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1943,"numTeachers":106,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":6453,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about J.L.
