This gives students greater independence and allows them to work at their own pace. The microphones are especially exciting because they give students a voice—literally! Students can record explanations, respond to questions, practice academic vocabulary, and explain their mathematical thinking.\r\n\r\nI have been especially excited to see students who are sometimes hesitant to speak in front of the class become more willing to share their ideas when they can record them. There is something empowering about hearing your own voice and realizing, \"I know this, and I can explain it!\"\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited to use the new equipment.
