Students run over to them with excitement and love sitting with their friends. We've already used them to play board games like Zingo and Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, which has helped us practice turn-taking and cooperative play. Students can now easily pass materials to their friends sitting nearby instead of getting up and walking across the room.\r\n\r\nThe art rack has also been a game changer for keeping our room organized. Before, we had artwork drying on counters and shelves, which took up valuable space. Now students can neatly place their projects on the rack where they stay safe while drying.\r\n\r\nOverall, these resources have made our classroom more functional and less distracting. We are already seeing the difference in how our students learn, interact, and build their skills. Anytime they are overwhelmed or feeling upset, it doesn't take much to convince them to take advantage of the cozy corner. They climb in, relax, then emerge ready to rejoin our class with a calmer sense of self. I could not have asked for a better project to fund. I am truly thankful for the self-regulation success this cozy corner has provided.\r\n\r\nThe cozy corner is a large wooden cube with three open sides that students can climb in or out of. When they first saw this box in the classroom, they were very intrigued and wanted to instantly climb in. Kids love small spaces they can \"hide\" in. They want to explore and figure out the benefits of using such a space. Through trial and error, my students have loved trying to build higher and higher towers. They are thrilled to see how amazing their towers can be and the squeals of joy when the tower falls excites them, but then inspires them to try again.\r\n\r\nWhen we first opened the boxes of building blocks, the students felt that they had just been given a present. They couldn't wait to get the boxes open. My students all discussed where they thought the blocks should be housed. Each moth I set up a display of the months theme (African America Heritage, LGBTQ, Asian American Heritage, Native America Celebrations, etc).
