As a teacher in a Special Education Classroom, we work on improving communication with multiple modalities everyday. We use sign language, PECS and even something as simple as pictures to aid communication. However, an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Device is the most functional mode of communication for my students. An AAC device can go everywhere, and be understood by everyone. Thankfully, with today's technology an AAC device can be as simple as downloading an app on a iPad. As with all language, the goal is to immerse students in language and to model language throughout the day. By supporting this project you are not only helping me better teach my students but are giving my students a voice.
