My students were so excited to start using all of the materials. The deluxe dust, sweep, and mop set is used daily in our kitchen center. My little students love to use these materials to pretend to clean. The wooden bus is also used daily in our block center. The students love putting our little wooden people inside and strolling them around. The alphabet mystery box is a class favorite. The students get so excited and happy when I bring the box out. We play with the box as a whole group on the carpet. The students review letter names and letter sounds while having fun. This project would not have been possible without your support. This can often times create dependency and/or anxiety. The scanning pen you have gifted our learners with removes that barrier instantly. By simply sliding the pen over a sentence, the student hears the text read aloud through earbuds. This allows them to bypass the struggle of decoding and focus entirely on comprehending the material. They can access the same high-level Science and Social Studies content as their peers, in real-time, without raising their hand to ask for help.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting feature for our students is the privacy it affords them. In high school, \"fitting in\" is everything. Having an adult hover over their desk to read a test aloud can feel stigmatizing. The scanning pen is discreet and looks almost like a highlighter. Students are thrilled that they can work autonomously. The instant feedback, such as hearing a word the moment they scan it, also turns reading into an active, engaging process rather than a frustrating wall of text.\r\n\r\nThank you so much - you are appreciated!","fullyFundedDate":1762628043338,"projectUrl":"project/educational-equity-through-assistive-tec/9865261/","projectTitle":"Educational Equity Through Assistive Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Galicia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8328085_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651520564926","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/galicia915"},{"teacherId":8328085,"projectId":9279155,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping our students access the curriculum by providing us headphones! \r\n\r\nWith the headphones, our students can now listen to audiobooks, educational videos, and other digital resources without distractions.
