Because of your kindness, our students now have access to essential cooking supplies that will help them develop important daily living skills and build independence. When the students first saw the new materials, they were excited and eager to explore the possibilities of creating their own meals. The air fryer, cookware, blender, and other kitchen supplies sparked curiosity and enthusiasm as they realized they would have opportunities to participate in hands-on cooking activities. Your generosity has provided more than kitchen equipment; it has given our students valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and gain confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these wonderful resources in classroom activities that teach practical life skills. For example, our students are learning how to follow simple recipes, identify ingredients, measure quantities, practice kitchen safety, and work together to prepare snacks and meals. The new cooking supplies let students practice following step-by-step directions, making choices, completing tasks, and cleaning up after themselves. These experiences encourage communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and self-confidence while reinforcing skills they can use at home and throughout their lives. Watching our students take pride in their accomplishments and become more comfortable completing tasks independently reminds us how meaningful hands-on learning can be.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building these skills through structured cooking lessons that gradually encourage greater independence. Students will practice preparing simple recipes, using kitchen tools safely, measuring ingredients, and completing each stage of the cooking process with appropriate support. As their confidence grows, we hope they will take on more responsibilities, make more independent choices, and apply what they learn to everyday situations beyond the classroom. Your generosity made these meaningful learning experiences possible, and we are incredibly grateful you chose to invest in our students' futures. Thank you for believing in our students, supporting their goals, and helping them develop the skills they need to become more confident and independent individuals!","fullyFundedDate":1784446582509,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-up-independence/10373696/","projectTitle":"Cooking Up Independence","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reisbig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10548249"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68815","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":597,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":93.5,"schoolId":68815,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ionia Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ionia Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/ionia-public-schools/ionia-middle-school/68815"}
