Your generosity has transformed how my 11th and 12th grade Problem Solving students engage with mathematics every single day.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived during class, my students rushed to help me unpack everything—it was like Christmas morning. They couldn't believe that strangers would care enough to donate all these materials for them. They immediately wanted to try everything out.\r\n\r\nNow, these resources are woven into our daily routine. The dry erase whiteboards have become our most-used tool—students grab them constantly to work through problems, sketch out ideas, and teach concepts to each other. What I love most is watching them use the boards to think visually, make mistakes freely, and collaborate. \r\n\r\nWe've also brought some competitive fun into problem-solving with the Pre-Algebra Bingo. Even my older students love the game-like atmosphere it creates, and it's a great way to build mental math skills while keeping energy high.\r\n\r\nStudents pass the Samsung tablet around the room so they can work from their desks while their work is mirrored to our Promethean Board at the front of the class. This means everyone can follow along with a classmate's thinking in real-time, and it's created some wonderful teaching moments where students explain their problem-solving approaches to the whole group.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are working on their math portfolios—essentially mathematical essays where they document their journey solving a single complex, open-ended problem from start to finish.
