After the devastating July 4th floods in our small community of Ingram, Texas, your generosity helped turn a difficult chapter into one of hope and healing. These journals have become so much more than notebooks—they are safe spaces where students reflect, dream, and rediscover joy. Each morning, my students write about gratitude, kindness, perseverance, and their goals for the future. Their pages are filled with drawings, stories, and heartfelt words that remind us all of the strength that comes from community and compassion.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has sparked something powerful. My students now eagerly share their writing with one another, celebrating small joys and the acts of kindness they've experienced since the flood. During parent conferences, children proudly shared journal entries with family members about kindness, perseverance, and hope. These moments of reflection and connection would not have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students are learning that gratitude can transform even the hardest experiences into something beautiful. You have given them the tools to heal, grow, and see the good around them—and for that, I am endlessly grateful. Thank you for believing in my classroom, my community, and the resilience of my children.","fullyFundedDate":1753889059197,"projectUrl":"project/gratitude-journals-for-processing-the-te/9481721/","projectTitle":"Gratitude Journals for Processing the Texas Flood","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. LeSauvage","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1165617_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628478777489","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1165617"},{"teacherId":10067565,"projectId":9440261,"letterContent":"We want to start with a tremendous THANK YOU for funding this fantastic boost in our reading program. This year we are supplementing our state reading curriculum with a program called Rooted in Reading. The 40 books you all funded for me to teach our state reading standards with are called mentor texts. A mentor text is a book that allows me to focus instruction on specific reading skills because it demonstrates those skills so well. For example, the first story we used was called \"My School Stinks\" and the reading skill we focused on that week was identifying story elements such as characters, setting, problem and solution. The creators of the Rooted in Reading program spent countless hours choosing the most engaging and supportive titles with rich illustrations and engaging plots. We have really enjoyed learning with them. \r\n Each book is used for a week of instruction which means we read it whole-class 3-4 times each week. Once that week's learning is done, that week's book is put in the library for the kids to read at their leisure, and WOW do they read them!\r\n Thank you again for your support of my avid readers...tomorrow's leaders!!","fullyFundedDate":1751624276434,"projectUrl":"project/rooted-in-reading-resources/9440261/","projectTitle":"Rooted in Reading Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10067565_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751306355800","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10067565"},{"teacherId":9064792,"projectId":9252755,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! It has been great to add some more books to help teach social emotional skills and give the students a place to start discussions. Our materials, like the Keva planks, Brain Flakes, and magnetic blocks have been perfect foe encouraging teamwork through different STEM challenges. I never knew what I was missing by not having a large rug with delineated spaces for each student to sit. Our rug has allowed me to make sure students are seated in specific areas of my teaching space that is best for each of them. The students are comfortable and gravitate to the large rug when given the choice of where to work in the classroom. \r\n\r\nOur carpet spots have been a huge hit, as well. Some kids use them as intended and take them to use when they're working on the tile floor. This allows them to work without having to sit on the hard, cold tiles. However, some students grab the carpets to use on their own chairs or on top of the large rug to provide even more comfort and cushion. It's been fun to give them the flexibility to use as they see fit to help them work to their potential. \r\n\r\nThank you, again, for helping to bring this project to fruition.
