Many of my students come to school without having eaten breakfast or bring very little to get them through the day. Having snacks available ensured that hunger was never a barrier to learning. Students were better able to focus during lessons, participate in discussions, and stay engaged because their basic needs were met. The tissues also supported a healthier, more comfortable environment, especially during cold season when runny noses can become a major distraction for both students and teachers.\r\nThese \"small comforts\" truly created a big impact on the emotional climate in our room. Students felt cared for, supported, and safe knowing they could meet a need without embarrassment. It reduced anxiety for several of my kids who worry about food at home, and it strengthened our classroom community by promoting kindness and mutual respect. Your generosity helped meet immediate needs that allowed our classroom to be a warm, welcoming space where students can focus on learning rather than discomfort. We are so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1755106782990,"projectUrl":"project/small-comforts-big-impact/9273075/","projectTitle":"Small Comforts, BIG Impact","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ludwig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9478292_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717720420577","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teamludwig"},{"teacherId":9478292,"projectId":9696721,"letterContent":"The Growing Young Scientists: Hands-On Classroom Gardening project transformed our learning environment and gave my students an authentic, hands-on experience they rarely get access to. Many of my students come from communities with limited green space, so having the opportunity to plant seeds, care for living things, and watch the full growth cycle unfold was powerful. The garden materials allowed us to explore science standards in a concrete and meaningful way. Students learned about plant needs, life cycles, observation skills, and data collection, but they also developed patience and responsibility as they tended to their plants each day. Watching their excitement as sprouts appeared and leaves unfurled was unforgettable.\r\nBeyond academics, the project created a sense of pride and ownership in students who don't always get to see themselves succeed in school. Our classroom garden became a calming, joyful space where students could check in on their plants, problem-solve together, and celebrate growth—both literally and figuratively. Caring for something living helped foster empathy, teamwork, and confidence. These hands-on experiences will stay with them far longer than a worksheet ever could. Your generosity made this unique learning opportunity possible, and we are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1758297723621,"projectUrl":"project/growing-young-scientists-hands-on-class/9696721/","projectTitle":"Growing Young Scientists: Hands-On Classroom Gardening","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ludwig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9478292_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717720420577","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teamludwig"},{"teacherId":9478292,"projectId":9147810,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through the \"From Snacks to Stacks: Fueling Learning with Essential Supplies!\" project. Your generous contributions have made a meaningful difference in both our day-to-day routines and the quality of our learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe academic resources are already being put to good use! The Complete Lemonade War series has been a hit—my students are loving the humor and relatable sibling rivalry, and we're using it to practice identifying theme and character development. The magnetic base ten blocks and Decimal War card game have brought new energy to our math centers, especially as we build a stronger understanding of place value and decimals. The giant lined magnetic notebook paper allows me to model writing and grammar lessons more clearly, helping my fourth graders grasp paragraph structure and editing strategies with ease. The whiteboard spinners have opened the door for interactive review games—like spinning for parts of speech or math operations—making even test prep feel like a game show!\r\n\r\nThe magnetic tiles are a wonderful multi-purpose tool. They've already become a favorite during indoor recess, but we're also using them in math for hands-on geometry practice. Students can identify, build, and measure angles, explore symmetry, and visualize shapes and patterns. It's a fun and engaging way to bring abstract concepts to life through creative play and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThe snacks—Goldfish, Pringles, and even those fancy caramel pecans—are a major hit and serve a real purpose. Many of my students come to school hungry, and having quick, easy snacks on hand helps them stay focused and energized throughout the day. It's a simple way to meet a basic need that often gets overlooked but has a huge impact on their ability to learn and participate.\r\n\r\nWe've also put the cleaning items—Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, and the BISSELL vacuum—to immediate use. With so many hands, projects, and snack crumbs, these items help us keep our space clean and safe. A tidy classroom sets the tone for focus, pride, and calm, especially during this busy time of year.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're planning a project that will use the black and white cardstock for student-created \"identity flags\" where students will write poems or affirmations about who they are, tying into both our SEL work and writing standards.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and our classroom. Your support has brought both joy and function to our space, and we are truly appreciative.","fullyFundedDate":1743011343229,"projectUrl":"project/from-snacks-to-stacks-fueling-learning/9147810/","projectTitle":"From Snacks to Stacks: Fueling Learning with Essential Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ludwig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9478292_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717720420577","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teamludwig"},{"teacherId":9478292,"projectId":9096549,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my students! Some of them immediately asked if they could take one home for later, while others were just relieved to know that they wouldn't have to sit through afternoon class feeling hungry. It's been heartwarming to see how much something so simple can boost their confidence and comfort in the classroom. As we continue through the school year, these snacks are allowing my students to focus more on learning and less on their hunger. Right now, we're working on building strong writing skills, and being able to grab a quick snack before tackling a tough assignment has made a huge difference. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom where my students feel supported and ready to succeed!","fullyFundedDate":1739310249155,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-focus-snacks-to-power-learning/9096549/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Focus: Snacks to Power Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ludwig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9478292_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717720420577","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teamludwig"},{"teacherId":9478292,"projectId":8598739,"letterContent":"I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible donations you've made to our classroom. Your generosity has had a meaningful impact on our students, and I am excited to share just how much it's made a difference.\r\n\r\nThe snacks you've provided have been a lifeline for many of our students who get hungry. Having that extra boost of energy has helped them stay focused, engaged, and ready to learn, and it's made a big difference in their ability to participate fully in class.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating options have transformed our classroom. Students now have the freedom to choose how they sit—whether it's on a comfy cushion, a bean bag, or a \"teacher\" chair. This flexibility has helped them feel more comfortable and in control of their learning, which has boosted their focus and confidence.\r\n\r\nThe indoor and outdoor recess toys have been a huge hit!
