Students were so excited to receive these hardcover books that their imaginations came to life on paper. They will cherish the memories and the book forever. Some stories were so creative, and I can definitely see getting published in the future. \r\n\r\nStudents created a children's book with these books and had to include a cover, title page, dedication page, their story with a few sentences and a picture on each page, an about the author page, and a blurb synopsis on the back cover. They planned their books by mind mapping and using character and setting charts to make their plot come to life. After the planning stage, they made their books come to life through color, drawings, and descriptive words. \r\n\r\nThis was a very fun experience for me and the students, and a memory that will last a lifetime, all thanks to you!","fullyFundedDate":1744207166672,"projectUrl":"project/creative-writing-students-become-authors/9047203/","projectTitle":"Creative Writing Students Become Authors","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547097"},{"teacherId":9547097,"projectId":9047561,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your donations towards this project. This project was the best way to end the year. Nothing is better than books, and because of you, we were able to have a class set of \"Falling Short\" by Ernesto Cisneros. This book is written from different points of view, and in this Creative Writing Class, we were able to see how POV makes a difference in an actual story. We not only read the book, but in some chapters we rewrote the chapters in a different POV from a different character or our own POV. This book was also very engaging and relatable to the sixth graders, as they enjoyed digging deeper into the writing of the book. Some days we read as a whole class and popcorn read, other days I read to the class, listen to the audio, or together in their groups, where they take turns reading. When reading, I let them pick a \"safe space\" in the classroom to sit to make the reading space more comfortable, relaxed, making reading more fun! \r\nWe loved \"Falling Short!\" \r\nThank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1744213013635,"projectUrl":"project/reading-improves-our-writing/9047561/","projectTitle":"Reading Improves Our Writing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547097"},{"teacherId":7524412,"projectId":9228328,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of our reading classroom! The supplies we received will go a long way to encouraging students to put in an effort in class. They need to build their reading and literacy skills every day and sometimes this is difficult work. They need to build up stamina while becoming excellent decoders - and that is hard work!\r\n\r\nDuring class time and literacy lessons, the students are encouraged to become active readers. In order to hone this skill, they use strategies such as text marking for important information. The students use different colored pens to annotate their texts. They like to pick the colors and come up with fun ways to annotate information while finding the answers to questions. They also like to swap colors and share with their partners when collaborating. \r\n\r\nWhen they are using audio texts, they must have headphones. Many of the students cannot obtain their own headphones for many different reasons. The headphones you helped purchase will allow them to listen to the audio and interact with the text.","fullyFundedDate":1744058903144,"projectUrl":"project/help-kids-become-better-readers/9228328/","projectTitle":"Help Kids Become Better Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fischer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7524412_orig.jpg?crop=704,704,x67,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663859093875","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsfischerreading"},{"teacherId":7524412,"projectId":8903790,"letterContent":"Thank you again for helping make this project a reality!
