They couldn't wait to explore everything! During our first small-group reading lesson, students eagerly used the Elkonin boxes and phonics manipulatives to stretch and map words. One student proudly said, \"I can see the sounds now!\" as she moved the magnetic markers across the board. They loved using the heart magnets to mark the \"heart parts\" (which is the part of words they must know \"by heart\"). In math centers, the addition and subtraction machines quickly became classroom favorites. Students loved checking their answers and asking their partner different math problems!\r\n\r\nThese resources are already making a meaningful difference. The hands-on tools help students stay focused, engaged, and confident as they practice essential skills. Our next steps include using the Science of Reading toolkit to deepen word mapping routines and rotating the math machines into fluency stations so students continue building automaticity with number facts.\r\n\r\nYour generosity gave my students tools that truly bring learning to life. Thank you for helping create moments of excitement, growth, and confidence in our classroom every day.","fullyFundedDate":1762692949840,"projectUrl":"project/building-strong-foundations-in-reading-a/9859580/","projectTitle":"Building Strong Foundations in Reading and Math Through Hands-On Practice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilkes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3890897_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1473725566799","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-melanie-wilkes"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104684","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":701,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":12,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.0,"schoolId":104684,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Indian Springs Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Indian Springs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/comal-independent-school-district/indian-springs-elementary-school/104684"}
