While technology in education often means laptops or tablets, this 6-degree-of-freedom robotic arm functions as an authentic industrial sandbox. It gives my high school juniors and seniors hands-on experience bridging the gap between high-level Python programming, mechanical engineering, and hardware security.\r\n\r\nThere was a clear shift in excitement the moment we finished assembling and calibrating the servos. Moving from abstract theoretical to commanding a full metal, multi-axis robotic arm in real time has excited students who are eager to put the concepts they are learning into real-world practice. Students are eager to challenge themselves with precision tasks, and learning how they can leverage machine learning with the hardware and programming concepts. For me, it has been exciting to hear the ideas that my students want to try as this project grows.\r\n\r\nThis hardware has also inspired students in our cybersecurity track. They have been focusing on comercial firewalls as the primary means to secure a network. However, they recognize the robotic arm as an exposed IoT device on an industrial network and are looking for security flaws that could be exploited so that they can then formulate strategies to mitigate that threat. \r\n\r\nOverall, students are gaining confidence in their knowledge and troubleshooting skills resulting in your donations being a powerful investment for our rural students.","fullyFundedDate":1778255867430,"projectUrl":"project/silicon-glades-bridging-ai-robotics-a/10181563/","projectTitle":"Silicon Glades: Bridging AI, Robotics, and the Trades.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9724929_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750022446775","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9724929"},{"teacherId":3021685,"projectId":10474957,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom with your donation. Many of them even commented on how much \"easier\" school felt once everything had a place.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also played an important role in our classroom.
