We also now have shared language to communicate with each other in order to make the classroom run more smoothly. Since then, I have had students ask to work in a quiet space because \"their race car is off track.\" I have also been able to use this vocabulary when I have had students blurting out and calling my name for attention. All I have to say is \"my racecar is working on x,\" and suddenly the students understand the need for uninterrupted focus. \r\nThat is only one example of how these read a-louds and brain discussions has transformed my room.
