The students have been engaging in conversation about all of the adventures young Tom Sawyer had as we read through the novel. The comical renditions alone have kept this unit exciting and entertaining. \r\n\r\nWe have enjoyed reading independently, with partners, whole group and audio. Along with the reading, we have been working on understanding the vocabulary within the novel and understanding the era in which this story takes place. Half way through the unit and novel, we paused to complete a Project, which students got to choose from a few options: Creating a Newspaper Front Page of the St. Petersburg Gazette, Create a Character Case File on one character, or a Theme Project where they had to analyze one theme from the novel. \r\n\r\nUpon completing the Unit, students worked in teams to complete another project in which they create a \"Museum\" of artifacts, quotes and other examples to demonstrate their understanding of Tom's life. This project helped students show and teach others about What it was like to grow up in this era as Tom Sawyer. \r\nAgain, we sure have appreciated the opportunity to learn and grow from this novel. Thanks again for your generocity.","fullyFundedDate":1755692767399,"projectUrl":"project/a-mark-twain-adventure-unit/9307657/","projectTitle":"A Mark Twain Adventure Unit","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Christman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9705906_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734376212086","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9705906"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78810","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":128,"numTeachers":8,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":78810,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Huntley Project Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Huntley Project Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/huntley-project-school-district-24/huntley-project-junior-high-school/78810"}
