Because of your generosity, my students have access to resources that bring learning to life in ways that textbooks simply cannot.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived was one of pure excitement. Students immediately gathered around the boxes, asking, \"Can we open them now?\" and \"When do we get to use them?\" Their curiosity and enthusiasm reminded me just how much hands-on learning matters. For many of my students, these resources represent opportunities they may not otherwise have.\r\n\r\nSince then, the materials have become a regular part of our classroom. Students have been working together to build, test, and improve their projects while learning that mistakes are simply part of the learning process. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students struggle with a challenge, only to finally solve it after several attempts. The cheers, smiles, and high-fives that followed were priceless. In that moment, they weren't just learning STEM concepts—they were learning perseverance, teamwork, and confidence. The hands-on nature of these activities gives every student a chance to contribute, share ideas, and experience success.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources to explore new challenges, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and discover what they're capable of achieving. Each project builds on the last, helping them become more creative, confident, and willing to take risks as learners.\r\n\r\nYour support has done so much more than provide classroom materials. You have helped create memorable learning experiences, sparked curiosity, and opened doors for students to see themselves as future innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and making these opportunities possible. Your kindness is making a real difference, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1771011855957,"projectUrl":"project/a-model-solution-to-eliminate-food-waste/9908078/","projectTitle":"A Model Solution to Eliminate Food Waste","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olenja","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3029528_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1638289951731","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/t-olenja"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6627","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":999,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":6627,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hughes Academy - Science & Technical on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hughes Academy - Science & Technical","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/greenville-county-schools/hughes-academy/6627"}
