As a Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience in various clinical settings, I have discovered one profound truth: healing, progress, and wellness are all based on the philosophy of empowerment.\r\n\r\nAbout four years ago, I had the idea to teach students entrepreneurial skills through jewelry and bead making. However, ideas need time, organization, and resources in order to be fulfilled. It is with sincere gratitude and humility that I thank you for being a part of my idea-fulfillment journey through your donations.\r\n\r\nYour contribution to my internship, \"Therapeutic Creations: Jewelry and Entrepreneurship,\" allowed students to enter into the world of business, creativity, and wellness in a pragmatic way. Initially, students were tasked with responsibilities such as creating a business name, identifying their audience, conducting product research, and calculating costs.\r\n\r\nAs you can imagine, it was challenging to hold the teenagers' attention while using a lecture-style format. However, when the supply orders arrived in boxes filled with beads, tools, bags, and display stands, the students could not contain their excitement.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation truly created an uncontainable, positive experience for them. Once the supplies arrived, students were introduced to the essential skills of creating inventory sheets and the meticulous details needed to unpack and organize products. It was unbelievably satisfying to witness them connect their intangible ideas to tangible products.\r\n\r\nWith the arrival of the physical items, students explored concepts such as color palettes, trending seasonal colors, product development, and advertising strategies. The students involved in the internship were transformed, and many expressed that they had not previously understood the varied skills needed to create a successful business, such as teamwork, responsibility, and research.\r\n\r\nDuring remaining few weeks of the school year, students are preparing to sell their bracelet creations at a pop-up event in the school building during a mini-film festival. This final phase allows them to experience the practical side of selling, including establishing refund policies, creating marketing materials, and practicing product staging.\r\n\r\nYour heartfelt donations helped to empower and plant seeds of attainable hope in a group of students who may never have had this opportunity otherwise. For that, I am profoundly grateful and sincerely thank you for funding the tools that fuel empowerment.","fullyFundedDate":1767803992824,"projectUrl":"project/therapeutic-creations-empowering-studen/9907802/","projectTitle":"Therapeutic Creations: Empowering Student Entrepreneurs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wynne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9858000_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767459807233","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9858000"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_96274","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":386,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":77,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":53.1,"schoolId":96274,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about High School Innovation Adver - Media on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"High School Innovation Adver - Media","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/hs-innovation-adver-media/96274"}
