One student said, \"Wait, we're actually doing this?\" That reaction said everything.\r\n\r\nFor the past several weeks, my Tigers have been running their own fantasy baseball league, drafting real MLB players, managing a salary cap, calculating batting averages and on-base percentages, and tracking weekly stats to see how their teams stacked up. Every math skill practiced had a reason behind it. Math wasn't something happening to them. It was something they were using.\r\n\r\nThe materials funded through this project made it possible to go beyond the spreadsheet. Students had printed rosters, scoring sheets, and reference materials that made the unit feel like a real league experience. The prizes gave the whole thing stakes. Kids who hadn't been engaged in months were checking MLB box scores before school.\r\n\r\nToday is our awards ceremony, and I'm watching students who worked hard all unit walk across the \"stage\" to collect recognition they genuinely earned. That moment doesn't happen without your generosity.\r\n\r\nNext up for my students: we'll carry the data literacy and statistical reasoning skills from this unit right into 8th-grade math next fall.
