They learned how to solder. They were able to solder a bug to learn how to solder. Once they were ready, they moved on to a more complex project. They soldered and built a FM/AM Blue-Tooth radio.\r\n\r\nWhile working on this project, my students came into class and starting working before the bell rang. They were the most engaged I have seen them all year. Not only did they learn how to solder and how circuits worked, but they also learned how to trouble shoot and problem solve. I feel this activity taught them skills that will be beneficial to them in the future. When they messed up or made mistakes, they had to figure out how to fix them, otherwise their radio would not work.\r\n\r\nQuotes from my students:\r\n\r\n\"I enjoyed the opportunity to build something completely by hand that actually works.\"\r\n\r\n\"While building the radio I learned proper techniques of soldering and I also worked on my teamwork skills.\" \r\n\r\n\"I learned so many things during the radio project, like how real electronics function and how I can go about making my own creations.
