I hoped that our students would come back to a new exciting environment to motivate them and engage them in learning. Our 4th and 5th graders got that and more! With your donation we were able to set up our classroom beautifully, made bright bulletin boards able to cover some of the older, less appealing parts of the building and welcome our students back with color and a wondrful learning environment. \r\nThe new set of noise cancelling headphones has also come in handy. Making sure each and every student has the option to use them to feel comfortable or increase their focus on their own work. \r\nWe appreciate your donation and love what it allowed us to offer our students.","fullyFundedDate":1746623418804,"projectUrl":"project/a-bright-and-colorful-room/9294695/","projectTitle":"A Bright and Colorful Room!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Putt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10008376"},{"teacherId":7469958,"projectId":8779366,"letterContent":"I was so touched and humbled that my project \"Multiplying our Math Success\" got funded. I asked for a peel and stick whiteboard paper that I placed in my small group center. This whiteboard paper has allowed me to elaborate on word problems, write out formulas for students to refer to, and create opportunities for students to come up to the \"whiteboard\" and work out problems- which students are always eager to do.\r\n The whiteboard markers has allowed students to work out problems on individual whiteboards instead of their math books. Students are doing the same work they would if they were solely using the book, but this is more engaging and captures their interest more- especially when they silently race to be the first one finished! \r\n The clipboards have also proven to be invaluable. Sometimes students have to finish work during recess, and they ask for a clip board. I have also used the clipboard when I have the students do little math scavenger hunts around the room and they work out the problems on their whiteboards. \r\nAnd the flashcards!!!! We have 10 minutes between PE and Lunch. Those 10 minutes have been maximized when I give groups of three students a set of flash cards to quiz each other on. I know that this is building math fact fluency since fewer students are looking at the posters on the wall for their math facts. \r\n My students were touched to hear that strangers donated these items. Know that these items will not just impact my current students but students for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1735660066778,"projectUrl":"project/multiplying-our-math-success/8779366/","projectTitle":"Multiplying Our Math Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7469958_orig.png?crop=579,579,x4,y53&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1598042089805","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7469958"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45879","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":341,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":63,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.2,"schoolId":45879,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Howard Drive Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Howard Drive Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/howard-drive-elementary-school/45879"}
