They are learning from trial and error how to make shapes, movements happen, and how to get their robot from one place to another.\r\n The older students have taken a big interest in the robot s as well. They have been generalizing geometry, measurement and prediction skills into the use of the robots while expanding their programming skills beyond computer games. \r\n We have seen an unexpected decrease in behavior interruptions from our \"Behavior Support\" students who get to interact with the robots as a reward for compliance, decreased off task behavior, and completion of work. These students have been able to earn participation with the group and have been excellent role models and teachers of programming to younger students. This project has been highly motivating for everyone who has been exposed to the robots and computer programming.","fullyFundedDate":1735209429919,"projectUrl":"project/jumping-into-computer-science-with-finch/8889789/","projectTitle":"Jumping into Computer Science with Finch Robots","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brooks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9808471_orig.jpg?crop=1290,1290,x0,y197&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729265815152","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808471"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17688","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":245,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":86,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":51.4,"schoolId":17688,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Horseshoe Drive Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Horseshoe Drive Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/rapides-parish-school-district/horseshoe-drive-elementary-school/17688"}
