Without your donation, this would not have been possible. \r\n\r\nEven more than expected have needed and used the supports. As you may recall, the school that I teach has a high percentage of underserved learners, so this has been an important and impactful addition to my classroom.\r\n\r\nYou would be so pleased to see the relief on students' faces as they are able to use headphones in class, along with many others, and with no stigma attached. One of the biggest game changers was adding all of the colorful lights. I started using different colors as a nonverbal way to communicate expectations—for example, a soft blue glow means \"quiet focus time,\" while a warm yellow lets students know they can collaborate and move around. It's been incredible to see how quickly they respond and how much calmer the room feels. The lights have become part of our routine, and my students love them.\r\n\r\nThe other supplies helped me take my ideas from \"someday\" to reality. Having materials to organize our math manipulatives and visuals has made such a difference in how smoothly lessons run. Instead of losing time digging through piles, my students can quickly grab what they need and jump into learning. The space feels more intentional and welcoming, and I can tell they take pride in keeping it that way.\r\n\r\nIt's amazing how much these small things add up. My students walk in every day to a room that feels bright, calm, and cared for—and that changes everything. They're more engaged, more confident, and more willing to take risks with math.\r\n\r\nThese supplies didn't just make my classroom look better—they made it work better. They helped me create an environment where my students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I'm so grateful for that.","fullyFundedDate":1755116949610,"projectUrl":"project/new-year-new-content/9153298/","projectTitle":"New Year, New Content","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jung","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8676497_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700500835862","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8676497"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38576","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":560,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":69.7,"schoolId":38576,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Horning Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Horning Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/waukesha-school-district/horning-middle-school/38576"}
