The composition notebooks are now our science journals, and students have begun using them to record observations during our unit on physical and chemical changes. One of our favorite moments so far was a \"mystery mixture\" investigation - students worked in small teams to create claim-evidence-reasoning posters on the easel pads, and even some of my most hesitant learners eagerly contributed. The window clings, sensory tools, and coloring books have also created a calmer, more accessible environment, giving students ways to regulate themselves so they can fully participate in learning. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were thrilled - many immediately picked up the fidget toys, calm strips, and highlighters with huge smiles, excited that these items were meant just for them. Your donation helped them feel valued and supported, and it has already made a noticeable difference in their confidence during class. \r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using their notebooks and group materials for upcoming hands-on labs exploring changes in matter. The visual tools and sensory supports you provided will play a key role in helping them stay focused, collaborate with peers, and explain their scientific thinking. Your generosity has set them up for meaningful growth in the weeks ahead.","fullyFundedDate":1756994928719,"projectUrl":"project/markers-soap-needed/9277419/","projectTitle":"Markers & Soap Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9767647"},{"teacherId":7068634,"projectId":9189487,"letterContent":"On behalf of our students, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generosity and support in funding this project. Your donation of the snow cone machine, along with the syrups and cups, brought so much joy to our classroom!\r\n\r\nOur students, had an incredible time making snow cones—especially at the end of the school year when the weather was hot. What might seem like a simple treat turned into a meaningful experience. The process of making the snow cones gave the students the opportunity to practice following directions step-by-step, waiting their turn, and working together. It was such a fun and rewarding way to reinforce important skills in a hands-on setting.\r\n\r\nNot only did the snow cones help our students cool off and enjoy a sweet reward, but they also helped us build community. Sharing this activity created laughter, smiles, and moments of connection that we will cherish. Watching the students beam with pride as they made their own snow cones was a true highlight of our year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for making experiences like this possible. Thanks to your generosity, we've been able to refresh our space and give students tools that really make a difference every single day.\r\n\r\nThe supplies—printer paper, ink, poster paper, dry-erase markers, classroom organizers, laminator sheets, colored pencils, and even snacks and fidget toys—have all been put to great use already. We recently wrapped up a fun group project where students made posters to teach others about the Periodic Table and chemical bonds. They loved using the colored pencils and markers to bring their ideas to life, and the laminator let us turn their hard work into long-lasting displays we could proudly hang up!\r\n\r\nWhen the kids first saw everything, their faces lit up. One student walked in and said, \"Whoa, it looks so fancy in here now!\" The new curtains made the room feel cozier, and the fidget toys and snacks have been a game-changer for helping kids stay focused and comfortable.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're starting an electricity & magnetism unit where students will have to develop schematics and build circuits. Having plenty of paper, ink, and organized supplies means we can actually print and put together their plans in a real physical format—which is super exciting for them!\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make our classroom a better place to learn, create, and grow. The new resources allowed us to explore the text through the lens of trauma, emotional regulation, and healing. When students first saw the materials—especially the visual aids and SEL tools—they were immediately intrigued. One student said, \"It feels like someone finally thought about what we actually need.\"\r\n\r\nA particularly impactful classroom moment came during a Socratic seminar where students connected Will's grief and inner conflict to real-world conversations about mental health. From there, they created \"social and emotional break kits\"—toolboxes filled with calming strategies, affirmations, and resources designed to help them regulate their emotions during high-stress moments in school.\r\n\r\nWe're currently moving into the next phase of the project. They're passionate, informed, and ready to use their voices to make change.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving them the tools to turn literature into action. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our project, \"Feed the Stomach, Grow the Mind!\". Your contributions have made a significant difference in our classroom. We all want our children to get the foods they need to learn, grow, and have long, healthy lives. A healthy eating routine is important at every stage of life, and it can have positive effects that add up over time. Existing data suggests that children who eat a more balanced diet and healthy snacks are healthier and often better learners. Good nutrition helps children have fewer absences and behave better in school, resulting in fewer disruptions in the classroom.\r\nThanks to your generosity, we were able to provide our students with the daily snacks they need to learn and grow.
