Without your support, I would not be able to provide my students with the opportunity to use this equipment.\r\n\r\nIn the photos, you can see my students experiencing this type of equipment for the very first time. While this day was just for practice, the real experiments are coming soon! My class will be conducting two lab investigations—Restriction Enzymes and Bacterial Transformation—both of which require the use of micropipettors to handle very small volumes. In these labs, students will work with DNA to make it glow in the dark through bacterial transformation and become visible using gel electrophoresis.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made these hands-on experiences possible. Within the first few weeks of school, they received folders to hold their assignments. This may seem minor, but to my students, it means everything. Having a safe place to store their papers greatly aids in homework completion and overall success in school.\r\n\r\nThe composition notebooks will be utilized in a new class offering this year, where students are required to keep a lab notebook. These books are perfect for that purpose!\r\n\r\nMy students are also very excited to use the magnetic whiteboards. They can use magnetic manipulatives to demonstrate scientific concepts. For some students, hands-on learning is the most effective way to grasp new material.
