Our school adapted a new reading curriculum, Amplify CKLA. This curriculum contains a large amount of nonfiction. Along with reading the nonfiction material that our reading curriculum provides the students will be writing several research pieces throughout the school year. I have always been a teacher who strives to find and foster student interests. The books provided through this grant have helped me do just that. I have a large classroom library of my own but many of the books are fictional. The books my classroom received has helped to provide the nonfiction materials needed to support my readers and writers and will assist them to have a successful school year. \r\n\r\nMy class is half way through the second unit which is entitled Fur, Fin, and Feathers: Animal Classification. This unit introduces animal classification through the use of teacher read-alouds and students reading additional text on each class studied as part of the animal kingdom.
