The translators you supplied with your gift have been so helpful for my students' work in accessing the math and improving the English skills of my newly arrived students. I have seen such an improvement in how they approach and speak with their peers about the math we are learning.\r\n\r\nWe haven't yet used the whiteboard unit circles (we do trigonometry this quarter), but I have been using whiteboards religiously with my students and know they will be so helpful. \r\n\r\nThe mms I was able to order were coveted by students and used to inspire them to participate, engage, and demonstrate their knowledge in friendly competition with their classmates. They were also used as rewards when they found errors I made in my own math, to help demonstrate that errors are not tragic and that everyone can make a mistake but it's how we correct errors and learn from them that matters.\r\n\r\nThank you so much.\r\n\r\nKatharine Lee","fullyFundedDate":1758806773444,"projectUrl":"project/math-access-for-divergent-learners/9532639/","projectTitle":"Math Access for Divergent Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9250009"},{"teacherId":10239770,"projectId":9677995,"letterContent":"Your support has made a remarkable impact on our students, providing them with the resources they need to express their creativity freely. While many people use technology at home for convenience or entertainment, in our classroom it becomes a creative engine—allowing students to bring their voices, ideas, and experiences to life through digital tools.\r\n\r\nThe new devices have opened doors for students to write, record, edit, and share their own stories. They are learning to combine text, audio, images, and video to communicate meaning in richer, more personal ways. These tools give students—especially those who struggle with traditional writing—a new pathway to express themselves and to feel truly seen.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the freedom to create. They love experimenting with narration, designing visuals, and crafting multimedia projects that capture their imagination. For many of them, this is the first time they've used technology not just to consume content but to produce something original, thoughtful, and meaningful.\r\n\r\nOne student who rarely participated in class has found their voice through audio storytelling; using the device's recording and editing tools has given them the confidence to share personal narratives they once felt too shy to express. Another student, who is an emerging bilingual learner, has been using translation and speech-to-text features to shape stories in both English and their home language—an accomplishment that has filled them with pride.\r\n\r\nYour support has empowered my students to become creators, not just learners. You've given them the chance to build skills, explore identity, and discover the joy of expressing their stories in new and powerful ways. While many people use technology at home for communication or entertainment, in our classroom it becomes a powerful tool for equity—helping students who face significant challenges engage with content in meaningful, accessible ways.\r\n\r\nThe new devices allow my students to read at their own pace, translate text when needed, listen to audio support, and complete assignments more independently. These tools are especially important for students who are English learners or who need differentiated materials. Technology gives them the chance to access the same rigorous content as their peers, but in a way that meets their individual needs.\r\n\r\nThe excitement these devices have brought into the classroom is undeniable. Students love being able to explore interactive learning apps, conduct research, create projects, and collaborate with one another in real time. For many of them, this is the first time they've had access to a device that's truly their own to learn with—and that sense of ownership has boosted their motivation and pride.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who often felt overwhelmed by traditional reading assignments, has blossomed with the help of translation tools and text-to-speech features. Another student, who loves design, has been using the device to create visual representations of class material, which has deepened both their engagement and understanding.\r\n\r\nYour support has given these students more than technology—you've given them confidence, curiosity, and the feeling that someone believes in their success. They created two teams—one team for each side of the bench. They had to work together on their small teams in order to set the glass before the mortar dried while following their design, and work as a whole to make sure that their design met at the corner. The communication skills that they had to use with one another will, also, translate into real world scenarios that they will face in the future. \r\n\r\nOverall this project was a success.
