The noise cancelling headphones have been put to use immediately during our drumming units, as well as for students who are having sensory overloads during music class or assemblies. I have even had teachers call to borrow them!\r\n\r\nThe microphones have also been incredibly helpful for our room. I struggle with chronic voice loss, and being able to use the microphones to teach over instruments has been an incredible help. We also used the microphones during our modern band unit, where we had students rotationg through singing and playing a variety of instruments. \r\n\r\nOur music classroom is a fun place to be and make music, but sometimes the volume is a struggle! As soon as it arrived, I unpacked it and students were using it that day!\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, we rock and roll! Students learn the basics of guitar, ukulele, keyboard, and drum set. Later in the year we work as cover bands and perform as a modern band ensemble. With larger class sizes, students had to wait forever for a turn on the \"real\" drums. Adding this third electronic set has allowed for all students to get a chance to rotate through drum set in one class period. Class sizes this year are lareger than ever, and it has made using our electric instruments more difficult. The addition of these two electric ukuleles has allowed for six students at a time to be able to practice, which works perfectly for when we do centers and rotate through skill practice.\r\n\r\nAs the year progresses, we will begin to play as modern band ensembles much more regularly. Adding the electric ukes to this ensemble will be a great way to help the students shine while they are working on chords and melodies on some of their favorite modern music. Even more exciting, soon, we will be writing our own lyrics, and then adding instruments to them. This will be very exciting to do with the addition of the electric ukuleles.\r\n\r\nI can't wait to keep using them as the year goes on! I was able to pull songs from two of the books for our winter concert, and they were perfect for our age level. The book \"Concert Chorals For Unison Voices\" will be a go-to for me for years, and the two songs we did at our concert were a hit!\r\n\r\nI love the collection of rounds, especially since they also come with accompaniament CD. Rounds are one of the best ways for my young chorus to practice singing in harmony and holding a part independently. They are the perfect size for my beginner guitar players! Although we haven't started electric guitar yet this school year, we have used the guitars with our recess Tech Club. They were so excited to get a preview of the instruments and to use them to learn how to set up and use the amps in our room. \r\n\r\nWe will be starting guitar in the next month or so, and the students are so excited. I will be setting up the electric guitar station very soon, and I know they will start asking me about them and when we will get to start. Once we do, students will be able to rotate through the electric guitars, and I can't wait to let them! Even some of my most reluctant students usually love the incentive of the electric guitars. We will also use them during centers, and when students work in small groups.
