These projects engage both imagination-driven learners and budding scientists, allowing them to explore stories in deeper, hands-on ways.\r\n\r\nThe kits have also opened a new opportunity: we're connecting with local engineers who we hope to invite into the classroom to present and guide us in using our STEM resources. One student, unprompted by me, had her chosen puppet \"reading\" from the book she had just checked out. Her classmates had gathered as an audience on the tiered seating I put in the theater area. What a great way to practice oral reading fluency! We have had solo puppet shows as well as duos entertaining their classmates. By using the puppet theater, our multilingual learners have had a non-threatening opportunity to practice their English. \r\n\r\nWe recently had our monthly Super Saturday at the Library event for families. This has helped create a learning environment where every child feels seen, valued, and represented, and it has sparked rich conversations that broaden their understanding of one another.\r\n\r\nThe gift card also opened the door for us to expand our curriculum in exciting and intentional ways. We were able to purchase books, hands‑on activities, and learning tools that highlight voices from many backgrounds, allowing students to explore new ideas and connect with content on a deeper level. I saw students quietly exploring the space, trying out the stress balls, soft lighting, and mindfulness materials. Some even shared, \"This is my favorite spot!\"\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stands out is during a particularly busy day in the classroom. A student who was feeling overwhelmed after a challenging math lesson went to the Calm Down Corner. Seeing the students use the space independently and thoughtfully has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to integrate the Calm Down Corners into daily classroom routines. Students will be encouraged to use the space proactively to manage stress, prepare for tests, or even reflect after group activities.
