When students received the news that we received donations for new materials, they were excited to finally have new class material. They showed their gratitude by giving you all a round of applause. The packages were received quickly and we opened them together and did a little \"haul.\" After each package we discussed how the specific material would be used and set expectations on how to care for the material. Although, they loved all the donations, they were mostly fans of the scissors and fidgets. We used the materials right away. We have used the scissors and rulers to help us create crafts (like a lucky math clover or our own periodic element). The book-bins have helped the students improve their organization skills. We use the markers on a daily basis. Lastly, they LOVE the fidgets. They use the fidgets to help them focus when they are having a bad day. Thank you so much for supporting their hands- on learning!","fullyFundedDate":1769177613051,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-classroom/9898099/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Macias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10351754"},{"teacherId":9814426,"projectId":9966226,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our culinary classroom. Your donations —dish soap, sponges, Clorox wipes, zip-lock bags, oven mitts, measuring cups, and timers—have already made a meaningful difference in our daily routines. These supplies allow us to maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment while helping students practice real-world culinary skills. From properly sanitizing their stations to accurately measuring ingredients and timing recipes, students are gaining hands-on experience that mirrors a professional kitchen.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were genuinely excited. Something as simple as having enough measuring cups for each group or reliable timers for baking helped them feel prepared and confident. During our recent lab, students worked in teams to prepare baked goods, carefully measuring ingredients and using the timers to ensure perfect results. They took pride not only in their finished dishes but also in maintaining a clean workspace using the cleaning supplies you provided. It sparked conversations about responsibility, teamwork, and food safety—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue building their culinary techniques through more advanced recipes and collaborative cooking challenges. With the tools you've provided, they are learning to plan, prepare, and execute dishes with greater independence and professionalism. Your support has strengthened our program and empowered students to see themselves as capable, confident young chefs. We are truly grateful for your generosity and investment in their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1769177615935,"projectUrl":"project/coking-up-life-skills-in-our-culinary-cl/9966226/","projectTitle":"Coking Up Life Skills in Our Culinary Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9814426"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35628","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1202,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"26.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":35628,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hesperia Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hesperia Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/hesperia-unified-school-district/hesperia-junior-high-school/35628"}
