The bilingual students feel special that they have a Spanish version of the book the class is reading. They are excited to participate each day. Students participate in group reading tasks as well as independent reading. The flex seating is split among students based on a rotation so everyone has a chance to use the chairs. They are engaged and excited about the reading assignments. They also have videos to watch that accompany the reading. The story, A Long Walk to Water, is based on real events as told by the lost boys of Sudan which makes the reading more engaging since it actually happened.
