It allows them to move from an idea in their imagination to a tangible, functional creation. Students are using the engineering design process to design, prototype, test, and revise their ideas while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance. The ability to print in multiple colors also helps students communicate their ideas visually and understand how different parts of a design work together.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is seeing their designs come to life in multiple colors! They are amazed that something they created digitally can become a real object they can hold and use. Students are especially excited to design items such as keychains, jewelry, models, and functional prototypes. They are constantly asking, \"Can we print this?\" and thinking of new possibilities.\r\n\r\nStudents who may not always feel confident in traditional academic settings have especially warmed to this technology. Hands-on learners, creative thinkers, and students who love building and designing have found a place to shine. Watching students proudly explain their designs, help classmates troubleshoot, and keep trying when a print doesn't work has been incredibly rewarding. The printer is not simply creating colorful objects—it is creating opportunities for students to see themselves as engineers, designers, and innovators.","fullyFundedDate":1773687121590,"projectUrl":"project/design-in-full-color-empowering-young-e/10122635/","projectTitle":"Design in Full Color: Empowering Young Engineers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp613472_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1455766169691","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rosemary-lara"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9143","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":456,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.5,"schoolId":9143,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Henry Steubing Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Henry Steubing Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/northside-independent-school-district/henry-steubing-elementary-school/9143"}
