Your support has made a real difference for our students. When the boxes arrived at the school, the students were immediately excited. They were eager to see what had come and were very excited to help open the boxes and explore all the new materials.\r\nThese science materials have provided exactly that kind of experience. The engineering materials were a huge hit right away. Students loved using the LEGO building brick pieces to build cities. They also loved the Engineer a coaster and learned about gravity, angles, and speed. They were able to engineer different coasters to see how different angles impacted the speed of an object. They continued this exploration of gravity and motion and loved creating a chain reaction STEM kit. It has been wonderful to see how eager students have been to learn through building, testing out what they build, and trying again.\r\nAs we begin our spring science units, the materials have continued to support our learning in meaningful ways. We are currently working on understanding animal life cycles. The students enjoyed reading through the science readers and then using the viewfinder to look at pictures of the different stages in the life cycles. Being able to see the images after reading helped the concepts make more sense and kept the students very engaged.\r\nAnother favorite in our classroom has been the science specimen boxes. The students absolutely love looking at and exploring the different items. Being able to see and touch real examples has made science come alive for them. They were fascinated by the shark tooth, cocoon, beetle, peacock feather, bird nest, and starfish. The students spent time examining each one and asking questions as we talked about what part of the animal it came from and how it connects to what we are learning.\r\nYour donation has helped create excitement and curiosity in our classroom. The students are eager to use the materials and look forward to our science activities each day. Thank you again for your generosity and for helping make these learning experiences possible for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1764977295969,"projectUrl":"project/inclusive-stem-empowering-young-scienti/9898438/","projectTitle":"Inclusive STEM: Empowering Young Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Welker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10351866"},{"teacherId":8295234,"projectId":9705942,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping my students get their creative juices flowing and expand their minds! They have such a fun time creating different obstacles for their friends and themselves. They don't even realize that they are doing science, engineering, art, and math.\r\n\r\nThey use all items not just in the way they were created for but find alternative purposes for there use. For instance they decided to use the hoola hoops for jump ropes. The sidewalk chalk is used to design the course and also to be part of the course for writing numbers and math equations to continue through the course. They enjoy being part of a team and helping each other complete the course successfully. Pictures have been included.","fullyFundedDate":1758563311686,"projectUrl":"project/steaming-through-kindergarten/9705942/","projectTitle":"STEAMing through Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mollard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8295234_orig.jpg?crop=2160,2160,x720,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659674298393","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8295234"},{"teacherId":9833186,"projectId":8937728,"letterContent":"On behalf of our classroom, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe books. Your gift brought so much excitement to our students, and it was truly inspiring to see their engagement with the story.\r\nMany of the students had seen the movie but none had read the book. This was exciting for us all as we read and explored the rich metaphors and themes, using a variety of reading strategies to deepen their understanding. \r\nThe book was advanced for this group of students. It really helped them access higher level reading comprehension since we had a full classroom set. Each student was able to follow along and go back to identify text evidence for specific questions. Beyond just reading, the book inspired a creative art project in which students designed their own vision of looking through the wardrobe into Narnia. It was wonderful to witness their artistic interpretations of this magical world.\r\nYour generosity provided our students with an unforgettable reading experience—one that will stay with them for years to come. Thank you for making such a meaningful impact on our classroom and for sharing the joy of literature with us.","fullyFundedDate":1731421977124,"projectUrl":"project/novel-study-of-the-lion-the-witch-and/8937728/","projectTitle":"Novel Study of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thomason","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9833186_orig.jpg?crop=716,716,x281,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731432715036","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9833186"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52538","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":572,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":52538,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Henry's Fork Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Henry's Fork Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/idaho/fremont-county-joint-school-district-215/henry-fork-elementary-school/52538"}
