Because of your kindness, my students now have individual whiteboards, colored markers, and erasers to use during daily lessons.\r\n\r\nThese tools have made a tremendous difference in our classroom. Our old whiteboards had become difficult to clean, and many of our markers had dried out, making it challenging for students to fully participate. Thanks to your generous donation, every student now has quality supplies that make learning more enjoyable and engaging.\r\n\r\nI have already noticed that students are more eager to participate because they can quickly write, solve problems, and share their thinking without worrying about making mistakes. Having their own whiteboards encourages every student to be involved and gives them the confidence to take risks while learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits for me as a teacher is being able to check for understanding in real time. I can quickly see each student's response, address misconceptions immediately, and adjust my instruction to better meet their needs. This immediate feedback helps ensure that every student stays engaged and receives the support they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and for providing resources that will continue to benefit them throughout the school year. Because of your kindness, my 6th-grade students had the opportunity to read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.\r\n\r\nAs we read the novel, students were fascinated by Brian's survival journey and the challenges he faced. We discussed themes such as perseverance, resilience, problem-solving, and the importance of staying hopeful during difficult situations. These conversations encouraged students to think critically about the choices Brian made and how they contributed to his survival.\r\n\r\nReading Hatchet helped strengthen students' reading comprehension, vocabulary, and analytical thinking skills. Many students enjoyed making predictions, identifying the novel's themes, and connecting Brian's experiences to challenges they have faced in their own lives.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this learning experience possible and inspired a greater appreciation for reading. My students are very grateful to all of you for helping us to get planners for this school year. My students are able to use the planners to record what they did for the day. My students are able look back at the work we have completed throughout each week. Students take the planner home to review the work with their families each Friday to show them and discuss what they have completed in class. They have to get their planners signed and returned to school each Monday. This is a way to have the connection from home to school. Our summertime really begins in late August into early October and our classrooms get HOT! The kids are so grateful to be able to be cooled off in our room on hot days. Having cool bodies means that they can have cool minds and are ready to learn. They are so much more excited to come into the room after recess, lunch, or PE knowing that they won't be sitting in a space heater of a room. When I opened the box for them, they were so grateful and happy to plug these fans in. They love turning the fans on full blast and pretending that they are going to blow away from the strength of the air. They also like to take turns shoving their faces as close as possible for 5 seconds, then letting their friend do the same thing. It's really cute to see how they work together to make sure that everyone is staying cool, calm, and collected.","fullyFundedDate":1746785490341,"projectUrl":"project/calm-cool-and-collected/9089024/","projectTitle":"Calm, Cool, and Collected","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leach","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9835543_orig.jpg?crop=817,817,x1122,y216&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733243588004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9835543"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90672","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":713,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":92,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"23.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":56.0,"schoolId":90672,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Henry F Kammann Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Henry F Kammann Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/salinas-city-elementary-school-district/henry-f-kammann-elementary-school/90672"}
