Thanks to your support, our printmaking project is officially in full swing! My students were absolutely buzzing with excitement when the boxes of brayers, linoleum blocks, and vibrant inks arrived. One student wide-eyed and grinning, even asked, \"We get to use real artist tools?\" Seeing their faces light up made it clear that these aren't just supplies to them—they are a vote of confidence in their creative potential.\r\n\r\nMaking a Mark\r\nWe wasted no time diving into our first major project: \"Identity Impressions.\" Students have been busy carving personal symbols into their blocks to create a series of relief prints. A standout moment occurred last Tuesday when one of my quieter students pulled her first successful \"proof\" off the block. The classroom went silent for a second as she peeled back the paper to reveal a perfectly inked design, and then the room erupted in cheers for her. The sense of pride and accomplishment in that moment was palpable; she wasn't just a student anymore—she was a printmaker.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next on the Press?\r\nNow that they've mastered the basics of carving and inking, our next step is to explore multi-color registration. Students are currently planning how to layer different colored inks to add depth and complexity to their work. This requires a lot of mathematical thinking and precision, but because they are so invested in their designs, they are tackling the challenge with incredible focus.\r\n\r\nThese resources have transformed our art room into a professional-grade studio. Your contribution didn't just buy ink and rollers; it provided my students with a tangible way to express who they are.
