I have spent the last 2 years learning the literacy program LETRS to help me teach my first grade students how to read! Your donations of the decodable books have helped in many ways. The students are getting more familiar with books and how to sound out each sound in order to read the words. The students love these books in particular not only because they can read the words better, but also they enjoy the stories. I already had a few decodable books in my class, but they lacked any kind of story that interested the students.\r\n\r\nThe next items that was donated was the beginning writing paper, markers and crayons. The paper helped many students with writing upper and lower case letters. There was just enough writing space for my beginning writers to write one or two sentences about a topic provided. The space above the writing area was just large enough for the students to draw a picture connected to their writing. I loved watching this development so much that I plan on using much more this school year. Thank you for your donations.","fullyFundedDate":1739368337936,"projectUrl":"project/the-essentials-for-first-grade-reading-a/9072806/","projectTitle":"The Essentials for First-Grade Reading and Writing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mantele","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9903514_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737398809875","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9903514"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54891","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":497,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":74,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.3,"schoolId":54891,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hendrick Ranch Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hendrick Ranch Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/moreno-valley-unified-school-district/hendrick-ranch-elementary-school/54891"}
