Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds and do not always have the opportunity to access these kinds of learning supports at home, so having them available at school created a more equitable and inclusive learning environment.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the project helped foster a stronger sense of confidence and motivation in my students. They felt valued knowing that others cared about their education and invested in their success. In our class, we've had multiple lettuce tastings because of the abundant harvest in our classroom farm. It's been pretty remarkable to see how things grow from seed to different varieties of lettuce that grow right in our class and yet are tasty and nutritious.\r\n\r\nI did not expect to have such eager students with regard to eating fresh greens, but they wipe out whatever we harvest and they can identify differences between the different types of lettuce. \r\n\r\nThere's something lovely about entering the room each day and seeing so many houseplants thriving in our room.
