While these items may seem small, their impact has been significant.\r\n\r\nAccess to consistent snacks has reduced disruptions related to hunger and improved student focus during instructional time. Students who previously struggled to concentrate due to hunger were able to remain engaged in labs, discussions, and independent work. The availability of pencils and basic supplies ensured that every student could participate fully without embarrassment or delay.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most meaningful was the opportunity to provide holiday gift bags to each student. For many of our families, this season brings financial strain. Being able to place something in every student's hands created a moment of dignity, joy, and belonging. Students expressed genuine gratitude, and the gesture reinforced that our school community sees and values them.\r\n\r\nBeyond the tangible items, this grant strengthened classroom climate. Students felt supported. They knew that someone beyond our building cared about their success and well-being.\r\n\r\nYour investment helped remove barriers that interfere with learning and allowed us to focus on what matters most: instruction, relationships, and student growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us keep our students fed, focused, and prepared.","fullyFundedDate":1763498717302,"projectUrl":"project/keeping-students-fed-focused-and-prepa/9855328/","projectTitle":"Keeping Students Fed, Focused, and Prepared","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bass","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5146669_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y164&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643947711555","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hefner7science"},{"teacherId":9306664,"projectId":9894067,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping my students stay connected to learning! Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to classroom chargers and power bricks that keep their iPads usable throughout the school day. While our district provided iPads for every sixth grader, chargers were not included, and the shared charging towers available on campus are heavily damaged and limited. Many can only charge a small number of devices at once, and students cannot work while their iPads are charging. Your support has filled a critical gap and ensured students can continue learning even when their device battery runs low.\r\n\r\nThese chargers are used daily and have made an immediate difference. Students who are unable to charge their iPads overnight—due to shared households, busy schedules, or limited access at home—can now keep up with assignments during class. Instead of losing instructional time or needing printed backup materials, students are able to stay engaged with their online math, reading, science, and geography programs. This has helped create a smoother, more equitable learning experience for all students while also reducing the need for extra paper copies.\r\n\r\n Several students who previously shut down when their device battery ran low now remain focused and productive. These tools have transformed how students engage with learning across the day. The whiteboards allow students to actively work through problems, test ideas, and revise their thinking without fear of making mistakes. Calculators are used purposefully during math practice and advisory time, helping students check their work, recognize patterns, and build confidence as problem-solvers. Even though I teach English, these materials allow me to support my team teachers and reinforce skills students need across subjects.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is how hands-on and interactive the tools are. Writing on whiteboards feels more like problem-solving than paperwork, which keeps students engaged and willing to try—even when tasks are challenging. The calculators, stored neatly and accessibly, have become a shared classroom resource students know how to use responsibly. During advisory, all 75 of my students are expected to complete a set number of math problems each week, and having these tools readily available has made that expectation feel achievable rather than overwhelming.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled with math anxiety or task avoidance have shown noticeable growth. Being able to work out problems visually on whiteboards and immediately check answers with a calculator has helped them persist longer and take ownership of their learning. These materials don't just support academics—they build confidence, independence, and a positive attitude toward learning. Also, the binders are the perfect size to replace my old filing system in the file drawers. Everything is cleaner, more streamlined, and I have less folders falling into the void jamming the drawers from opening. \r\nI was also able to get a laminator for the room and the laminating pouches to make that work. This is perfect for smaller projects like the covers for student note folders as well as decorating items for the bulletin board. The moment we opened the boxes and saw all the brand-new balls, basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, and more, their faces lit up. They immediately wanted to organize games and try everything out.\r\nWe've already put the new equipment to great use during classes, recess, and after-school activities. Having enough balls for everyone has made a huge difference; students no longer have to wait for their turn or sit out because of limited supplies. They're learning teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship while also staying active and engaged.\r\nOne special moment that stood out was watching a group of students who don't usually participate much in PE jump right in to play once they had the right equipment outside for a reading goal incentive being met. Seeing their confidence grow and their smiles during those games reminded me how powerful something as simple as a new ball can be.\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are building stronger connections, staying healthy, and developing a lifelong love for being active.
