Your contributions have definitely made our classroom brighter!! We are able to complete math problems with colorful visuals that help students understand the material better. I am able to send home colorful informational flyers to parents. My students get very excited when they see a paper with colored images on them since their workbooks don't really have any.\r\n\r\nIt was also just in time for the holidays and I am able to create holiday/winter crafts for students. I am also able to create holiday/winter gifts for students to gift to their families. \r\n\r\nI also am able to hang up anchor chart on the pocket chart which helps students be able to see our anchor charts at any time. It helps students recall information and refer to it throughout the day. It really helps my visual learners. The excitement was contagious as we opened boxes of bright Astrobrights paper, colorful pens, and plenty of pencils. Students immediately wanted to try out the new fidgets and calming corner resources, and our social-emotional learning books have already sparked meaningful discussions about big feelings. The laminator and cardstock have allowed us to create durable learning tools that students can use again and again, while the disinfecting wipes and air fresheners have kept our room clean and comfortable for learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was when students used the Hands-On Addition Regrouping Kit and the Visualize Place Value Magnetic Frame during math. They were thrilled to explore concepts in a hands-on way, and you could see the lightbulbs going off as they worked together to solve problems. At the same time, the fidgets and Calm Ball have been powerful tools for helping students self-regulate, showing that learning and emotional wellness truly go hand in hand.\r\n\r\nYour support means more than just supplies—it means students have the resources to learn with joy, creativity, and confidence. Every sheet of paper, every marker, and every book is fueling our learning journey this year. From writing stories on bright paper to practicing SEL with calming tools, your gift is making our classroom a place where students feel supported, cared for, and ready to succeed. Every day I work with students in small group for short periods of time. During these times I have noticed students struggle with staying focused, staying seated, self-confidence, motivation, and ability to control impulse behaviors. All of these struggles hinder students from being able to engage in their instruction. The tools that were provided with the help of your donation, have helped them in so many ways. \r\nWhen I introduced the new class incentive treasure box, the students were thrilled! They were eager to know how they could earn all the wonderful party favors. My students who struggle with memorizing sight words enjoy using the play dough to make their sight words while having fun. Some of my students have benefited from using the fidget toys to help them concentrate and focus during instruction.\r\nOverall, this project has been a huge success in helping motivate my students to complete assignments, engage in their instruction and help them with their impulsive behaviors. I am extremely grateful for your donation to our project and helping improve my students education.","fullyFundedDate":1733267978012,"projectUrl":"project/motivating-with-positive-incentives/8593474/","projectTitle":"Motivating with Positive Incentives","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3755179_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1702693691404","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3755179"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7117","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":636,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":88,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":93.0,"schoolId":7117,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hazeltine Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hazeltine Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/hazeltine-elementary-school/7117"}
