We all need more wisdom! These books have been used during partner reading which we call 'peanut butter jelly time,' as read-alouds, and in small groups. Some children have laughed while reading which always brings a smile to my face. Getting students to learn to love reading is so beneficial. \r\n\r\nSomething children may not even realize while they are reading is the stories are teaching them to understand and appreciate their individuality. Some focus on patience, some on the importance of never giving up. One theme that is prevalent throughout these books is empathy and that a true friend will stick with you through thick and thin. \r\n \r\nThank you so much for donating and making a difference. Not only are these books age appropriate, they are engaging with longer sentences to build reading skills while being totally relatable.","fullyFundedDate":1744254102292,"projectUrl":"project/friendship-and-perseverance/9228823/","projectTitle":"Friendship and Perseverance","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rachelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5524277_orig.jpg?crop=1124,1124,x0,y183&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743706166804","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5524277"},{"teacherId":5524277,"projectId":8626332,"letterContent":"There is research that demonstrates helping children identify the place and manner of articulation, or the articulatory gesture, promotes their phonemic awareness and decoding skills. Sound walls can help with that which is exactly why we are putting it to good use. The sound wall is used as a tool when explicitly teaching phonemes. This brings awareness of the speech sounds that letters represent which is critical to effective reading and spelling instruction. \r\n\r\nWe use the sound wall to not only draw attention to the position of the mouth, lips, and tongue as a sound is spoken but also to teach spelling patterns as students learn that one sound can be made using different graphemes. Students get excited when they are able to refer to the sound wall to help them produce sounds. This is a huge benefit to connecting speech to print. Thanks to your generous donation, gaps are being filled between conceptual sounds in language and concrete letters.","fullyFundedDate":1724771626093,"projectUrl":"project/early-intervention-matters/8626332/","projectTitle":"Early Intervention Matters!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rachelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5524277_orig.jpg?crop=1124,1124,x0,y183&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743706166804","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5524277"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127608","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":304,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":127608,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hayesville Primary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hayesville Primary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/clay-county-school-district/hayesville-primary-school/127608"}
